What I’m Wearing for Rakhi (And Why I’m Choosing Mayori This Year)

What I’m Wearing for Rakhi (And Why I’m Choosing Mayori This Year)

Okay, can I just say — how is it already Raksha Bandhan season? Feels like the year just flew past. Every time Rakhi comes around, I end up in the same situation: tons of enthusiasm, zero outfit plans.

I used to be all about dressing up in heavy suits and borrowing jhumkas from my mom, but lately, I’ve been craving clothes that don’t feel like a full-time job to wear. That’s where I stumbled upon Mayori. Someone sent me a reel featuring their cotton co-ords, and I just went down a rabbit hole. Their stuff looks festive, but it also looks like I can breathe in it. Big win.

So if you're still figuring out what to wear this Rakhi, here’s how I’m planning to style some of their pieces — maybe it’ll give you ideas too.

Kurta Sets — Always Reliable

Honestly, nothing beats a good kurta set. You put it on, and you're instantly ready. I saw this soft pink set on Mayori’s site with a simple print and floaty sleeves. It's not flashy, which I love. Just clean, elegant, and something I can wear again for brunch or even a work thing.

I’ll probably pair it with my go-to silver hoops and a little kajal. No heels, just comfy flats. Done.

Loose Co-ords That Still Look Put Together

I never thought of co-ords for a festival, but here we are. Mayori’s cotton co-ords are so well-cut — they’re loose, but still flattering. And honestly, they look like something you’d wear while making rakhi laddoos and while chilling on the sofa with your cousins later.

I’m leaning toward a muted green set they have — might add a silver cuff or anklet just to make it feel festive. Also, no dupatta to fuss with? Yes please.

Cotton Dresses = Underestimated MVPs

Last year, I wore a dress for Rakhi because I had a bad cold and just couldn’t deal with tight pants or anything layered. It ended up being the most compliments I’ve ever gotten on Rakhi. Go figure.

This time, I’ve been eyeing a few Mayori cotton dresses in pastel tones. They’re roomy but don’t look sloppy. I’ll probably style it with one of those fabric hairbands, tiny gold hoops, and kolhapuris.

Jumpsuits — Because Why Not?

Okay this is a little different — I never thought of wearing a jumpsuit for something like Rakhi, but Mayori’s stuff makes it work. There’s this rust-colored one that I almost bought last week. It’s simple, has pockets (!!!), and somehow still feels dressy.

I’d probably dress it up with big earrings and some stacked rings. And maybe a bright lipstick if I’m feeling extra. It’s giving festive-but-chill energy.

Where I’m Buying From

I live in Mumbai and didn’t want to bother going to a store in this weather. Found most of their collection online — super easy. I know friends in Chennai who got theirs through online platforms too, so delivery looks sorted across cities. Thankfully, their sizing is quite forgiving, and the fit is relaxed, so I’m not too stressed about it arriving last minute.

No More Festive FOMO

I used to get really overwhelmed trying to look “festive enough” — especially when social media is full of people in full glam mode. But this year I’m just going for what feels like me: cotton clothes, unfussy jewellery, and pieces I’ll reach for even after Rakhi’s done.

If you’re also tired of wearing itchy fabrics just to “look the part,” give Mayori a shot. Their pieces don’t scream for attention, but they look so fresh and feel so comfortable — and honestly, that’s the vibe I’m going for this time.

Hope you find your Rakhi look. And if nothing else, at least we get to eat sweets guilt-free.
